Well, it was an interesting evening.

Mrs. Ggrrrinch and i arrived at the Monterrey United States Post Office on Hartnell at seven o'clock, and were surprised to find that it was closed. We were greeted by a very nice lady named Stevie who was handing out copies of extension form 4868 to people. She entrusted the remainder of her forms to us, which we did distribute. The Monterey Post Office has been open in years past, and this year's reduction in service was a surprise and a disappointment to a steady stream of people. A sign inside told them that the Salinas and Santa Cruz Post Offices would be open until midnight. As promised in the press release, we distributed the Open Letter to George W. Bush to The People, and also my business cards. It was a cold and somewhat windy evening, and the brick sidewalk in front of the post office was somewhat uneven, so it was challenging keeping my eight-foot frame well balanced.

About eight o'clock, we decided to offer to deliver people's mail to Salinas so that they each individually would not have to make the drive. We found a box, and over the course of the next hour, we received the thanks and the blessings of many people as they gave us their mail to deliver.
Then at nine o'clock, with our box nearly full of these important envelopes, we made our way back to the Ggrrrinchmobile, and found our way to the Salinas Post Office. They were accepting the tax forms in big bins in the middle of the road. A noisy generator was powering big lights, and there were police cars with their lights flashing. The police were directing traffic, for there was a considerable back up of cars making their way to deliver their taxes.
We trundled our way into the scene; it was difficult being eight-foot tall walking down the grassy slope from the parking lot towards the road. As always, Mrs. Ggrrrinch's loving help made it possible.
With the help of a policeman, we crossed the street, where i delivered the box of mail to the mail processors. Then i was interviewed by a news reporter from FOX TV Channel 35 [Some friends did see the interview on TV!]

The reporter asked: "Why are you here?" and i said [and i paraphrase]:
"i, Ggrrriffin G. Ggrrrinch, the Ggrrrinch Who Stole Congress!, with the help of my beloved Mrs. Ggrrrinch, am delivering these tax forms from The People of Monterey. i am also distributing my Open Letter to George W. Bush, in which i propose the decentralization of our beloved country to be 50 states independent and free."
We Ggrrrinches were very happy to provide a useful service to so many people, and we are honored that so many people trusted us with their time, effort, and money.
it was a beautiful evening, and we send you all our love.
Mr. & Mrs. Ggrrrinch
