17 January 2002: The Ggrrrinch arrives at the California State Capitol in Sacramento, carrying his NO!

How the Ggrrrinch Stole Congress!

Each incumbent in Congress liked Congress a lot . . .
But the Ggrrrinch, who lived far west of Congress, did NOT!
The Ggrrrinch hated Congress! The whole Congress season!
Now, please don't ask why.  No one quite knows the reason.
It could be his head wasn't screwed on just right.
It could be, perhaps, that his shoes were too tight.
But i think that the most likely reason of all
May have been that his "NO!" was two sizes too small.

NO!
 what a delightful word!
  the word of setting boundaries

i the Ggrrrinch am learning to say "NO!"
i am being taught by a bunch of little Ggrrrinches.
i work at a Ggrrrinch School,
and i watch the little Ggrrrinches
    saying "NO!"
     setting boundaries.

i the Ggrrrinch am saying NO! to Congress.

Congress Shall Make No Law!

i the Ggrrrinch am proposing an amendment to the U.S. Constitution:

Congress Shall Make No Law.

i the Ggrrrinch have created
a "Congress Shall Make No Law" petition,
"Congress Shall Make No Law" T-shirts, and
a "Congress Shall Make No Law" website: CSMNL.com

i spoke with my father
 the Grinch who stole Christmas
  -- he's retired now --
   -- lives in Florida --

And my father the Grinch said:
 "Congress Shall Make No Law?
   Congress Shall Make No Law?
    what about the federal government??"

So i the Ggrrrinch added a second sentence
 to my constitutional amendment:

All Federal Activities Shall Be Private!

if they want me
to give them my time or my money
they have to listen to my "Yes" or my "No."
   The same with everyone.
    Participation shall be voluntary.

All federal activities shall be private.

And my father the Grinch said:
 "Congress Shall Make No Law?
All federal activities shall be private?
    What about the states??"

So i the Ggrrrinch added a third sentence
 to my constitutional amendment:

These United States Are And Of Right Ought To Be
Free And Independent States!

51 states, independent and free

The U.S. Flag becomes 51 state flags.

Political decentralization.

The people of the U.S.S.R. decentralized.
So can we in the U.S.A. decentralize.

What are we Americans
 led by Congress
  bringing to the world?

i see us bringing a lot of
 soldiers and
  guns and
   bullets and
    bombs
attempting to bring Peace to the rest of the world
      a Pax Americana
       a Peace Made in America.

Well, i don't believe the world wants a Pax Americana.

if there is one thing i have learned from the little ones,
 it is:
They Want To Do It Themselves.

We Americans need to let go.

What is this all about?
 this NO! to Congress,
this privatization of the federal government,
this political decentralization of our beloved country?

it is about setting boundaries,
having more control over your own life,
having less control over the lives of others.

it is about letting go,
letting go of our role as world police,
letting go of how people in other countries
choose to organize themselves and solve their problems.

it is about setting a good example
of how to live together in peace.

it is about saying "NO!"
 and being heard.

Congress Shall Make No Law.
All Federal Activities Shall Be Private.
These United States Are And Of Right Ought To Be
   Free And Independent States.

Thank you.
